I am taking a departure from my usual content to share a personal experience in the hopes that it may help others in the future. Thanks for allowing me the room to do this.

I want to start by saying that I am very lucky. I have a great family and a great day job. If you didn't know I develop web/mobile applications for a company called Zeal. It is a small but amazing Oregon based consultancy with the knack of hiring smart empathetic people. It is because of them that this story came to pass.

With the mechanics fairly set, I set off on the 2016 convention series. These last versions saw some minor changes from convention to convention. Just refining the mechanics laid out in version 12 & 13. It was during this time that I also accomplished one major piece, the rulebook.

From iterating on art and mechanics I switched to focusing on the graphic design with a little bit of mechanics thrown in when I could get unblocked.

Keeping myself excited and engaged on a long term project can be hard. In this article I will cover the art and big changes that hooked me in and kept me moving forward. Sometimes at accelerated rates, sometimes at a calm flowing pace.
